Project Details
“When I first took the position of parks and recreation director, I asked Ted Esborn (Avon Lake’s economic development director) to find a large indoor space with high ceilings that we could use for basketball courts,” said Avon Lake parks and recreation director Tim Pinchek.
The multi-court facility will take over the location next to the old Avon Lake Movie Theater, expanding the city’s services to accommodate a range of sports activities ranging from basketball, tennis, volleyball, fitness classes and more, the release said. The 7,000-square-foot facility, which once housed Avon Lake Theater in Artstown Shopping Center, also offers a batting cage and fitness classes. Tim Pinchek, director of Parks and Recreation, said the center also offers child care for people who are taking the classes.
Pinchek said the official name of the facility is The Anchor, an Avon Lake Recreation Facility, sponsored by PolyOne.
